Festval Kesenian Yogyakarta (Yogyakarta Art Festival) or known as FKY was held again at Jogja. FKY is an arts and culture event that held every year by Tourism Department and supported by The Provincial Government of Yogyakarta Special Region. For this year FKY which held to 22 times and will lasts a full month from June 7 to July 7 2010. This event will take places at Vredeburg Fort, Societet Taman Budaya Building and Pendopo Pakualaman

FKY officially opened at June 7 2010 at Alun-Alun Utara Jogja, in front of Kraton Yogyakarta, and continued with cultural parade at 04.00 am. The parade started from Alun-Alun Utara and finished at Alun-alun Sewandanan Puro Pakualaman. It opened with Sabda Pandita Ratu dance and followed by FKY XII mascot. Continued with Kraton and Pakualaman Soldier and various culture community from various region at Yogyakarta with own unique. This cultural parade followed by 20 art and cultural community. Three of them from East Java, Central Java and Nusa Tenggara Timur. This parade is not only about culture. But from Nusa Tenggara Timur try to promote Komodo National Park, as one of cultural asset of Indonesia, in order to become one of Seven Wonders of the World. They try to make a komodo replica. The parade closed with Barongsai dance. Thousands peoples of Jogja came to enliven and packed Alun-Alun Utara and along the parade's rute.

FKY held in 1988 for the first time as a venue to create an aspiration and appreciation of art and culture from all of Jogja peoples. The theme of FKY this year is "Yogyakarta Memang Istimewa" or you can said Yogyakarta certainly Special. It means that Yogyakarta Is certainly a special city, from the art, cultural, or the area. Different from last year, FKY this year try to combine traditional and modern side, both of them is a part of privilege of Yogyakarta. "FKY this year different from last year. This year is more glorious than last year because we involved other province like East Java, Central Java and Nusa Tenggara Timur. And this year FKY try to combine traditional and modern side."said Kasidi Hadi Prayitno, M.Hum, as the Leader of FKY. This year, FKY involved 3000 artist from 80 community. To simplify the visitor, the committee will open the gate between Vredeburg Fort, Taman Budaya and Taman Pintar Building.

FKY will offer a few series of events and separate in a few corner at city center. They are Performances Art and Tradition will be held at Taman Budaya and Pakualaman, Arts Exhibition and Art Market will be concentrated in the areas of Vredeburg Fort while the dialogue of art will held at Seminar Room of Taman Budaya. Art Market will open every day from 09.00 am to 09.00 pm and you will accompanied by cultural attraction such as koesploes music, campursari, kethoprak as the traditional culture, the young band, and dances will be held too. The committee will held the dances from Kraton as for closure. But they choose the ancient one are rarely publicized.

Not only art and cultural attractions, FKY also provides a variety of competitions that can be followed by all of community one of them is java script calligraphy competitions.
