The Most Improved Award was awarded to the Yogyakarta city on the Travel Club Tourism Awards (TCTA) 2011 event. Awards received by the Mayor of Yogyakarta Herry Zudianto and given by Minister of Culture and Tourism of Indonesia Ir. Wacik, SE at the Jakarta International Event & Convention Center JITEC Mangga Dua Square Jakarta, Saturday (24 / 9).
The award was given to provincial governments, districts and cities in Indonesia that has to function as a facilitator and regulator well in the field of tourism so that results can accelerate development of local tourism destinations.
Selection starts from 99 nominees elected provincial governments, districts and cities in Indonesia. After going through a series of selection steps starting from the selection and administration, field observation and stage presentations by each team from the provincial, district and city of Yogyakarta, it was decided entitled to receive awards include: The Most Improved Award.
Head of Culture and Tourism Office of Yogyakarta Yulia Rustiyaningsih explained that during a presentation people are asked about how the role has been done by the City Government of Yogyakarta, in implementing governance so as to produce outcomes beneficial to the development of tourism.
Answering that question Yulia as Yogyakarta Team Coordinator explained that as one form of commitment sincerity that is by the issuance of Regional Regulation No. 4 2010 Concerning Implementation Tourism equipped with Directive Implementation Regulation referred to in the form of Major Regulation No. 36 Year 2011. The regulations are arranged as a follow-up of the issuance of Law No. 10 Year 2009 about tourism. It is a real achievement for Yogyakarta city in the interests of tourism developing where other regions have not done. This award also recorded as an achievement which received appreciation from the jury team of diverse media and promotional programs synergy with all stakeholders in tourism in the city of Yogyakarta.
