The 3rd Indonesia Printmaking Triennial 2009

Delivering the most recent view of printmaking artworks, this exhibition displays 50 works as the result of Printmaking Triennial Competition 2009. Differ from the two prior competitions; the committee gives freedom to all participants to choose the most favorite theme while looking forward to having the magnificent works both in term of technique and message. In fact, such great combination can be found among these results. Some of them employed wood cut, intaglio, lithography, and mixmedia.

The head of judges, Aminudin Siregar said this competition challenges artists to dig up the power of manual techniques and esthetic among a huge sophisticated development of digital technique which makes everything easier with a hope that there will flourish a new wave of understanding among the artists about the characteristic, chances, and development vision in the future of printmaking art.

The participants come from many regions. But, as it had been forecasted, most of them are artists who live and works in Yogyakarta and Bandung.

It is the second, prior in Bentara Budaya Jakarta in Oktober 15-25, 2009. And the next is in Bentara Budaya Bali (Desember 1-20, 2009).
